-Most believe that strict enforcing of gun control laws saves lives and reduces crime, saying that the United States has the highest percentages of homicides and gun related deaths in the world, because it has one of the highest rates of gun ownership That point however is quickly disproven by qualified experts with knowledge in gun control.
-“In Switzerland gun control legislation barely exists, people are even allowed to own fully automatic assault rifles. Service in the militia is mandatory for Swiss males and after leaving the militia conscripts are required to keep their service weapon (and ammunition) in their own home. As a result Switzerland has a high rate of firearms ownership, surpassing even that of the United States. Switzerland is thus frequently an embarrassment to advocates of gun control, since its high rate of firearms ownership is associated with minuscule levels of crime.(Killias)”
-A study by “Killias in 2001,based on a larger sample of countries, reported that, while there was a strong conection between gun-related homicide of women and gun-related assaults against women, this was not the case for similar crimes against men and that "interestingly, no significant correlations with total suicide or homicide rates were found, leaving open the question of possible substitution effects." In short, there was no significant conection between national gun ownership rates and the total number of people murdered or the total number who killed themselves This study therefore did not even find a simple conection between gun rates and rates of total homicide or suicide rates.
